Naughty me!

Posted on 21 November 2006

Dear Santa, put me on the naughty list! Overall I am impressed with our efforts to save money and get out of debt fast but sometimes it is like being on a diet. Cheating is bound to happen at times, and boy have I been cheating!

Here are the things I recently have had a weakness for (and given into);

1. Christmas gifts. I tried to set a budget early on, but sometimes a really good idea will pop up after the other gifts have been purchased. Luckily it wasn’t a total budget breaker.

2. Books! I feel like it’s been far too long without something good to read (I think I have read everything at our library that I want to read.) Plus, when I saw Kelli’s post about the In Stitches sew-along I gave in.

3. House things. Due to the relatives’ upcoming holiday visit, and also the cold weather, thermal lined drapes were purchased. Hopefully they will help a little with the heating and cooling costs.

Oh there are so many other temptations! Luckily my desire for debt free living is stronger than my desire for new clothing, a salon haircut, a new purse, and many of the other fun things I have seen at the stores recently. Do you think that I can turn the lump of coal I will be getting in my stocking into a diamond if I try really hard? ;)

    Keep up the effort. It’s a marathon to get debt free; not a sprint. I wish I had your will power.
