Over the past month I had been seriously considering going back to school for a new degree, but could not figure out what I would study. In my heart I am a dancer, a gardener, a photographer, and maybe a cook. I already have a degree in graphic design and a lot of the other degree options seemed dreadfully dull. Then it dawned on me, one of those “DUH” moments. What had I been doing for the past few years as a blogger? Writing!
It was then and there that I declared myself a writer. Now it is even more official, I am freelancing for Care2 in their causes section. Other amazing opportunities are in the works as well, which I promise to let you know about once they become official. For now though, I would love to have you come over and see my first article (I am the one who took the photograph for the post as well, which you may recognize). I will be adding a feed on the sidebar so you can easily follow my posts on Care2. I would love to have you comment there (it’s always nice to know things are being read).
What about you? Are you doing what you enjoy? If not, maybe it’s time to declare that you are, and then take steps to make it so.

Here is my list of the 5 things I am thankful for this week:
- Internet. I kind of take it for granted, but the internet has opened a lot of doors, allowed me to reconnect with old friends, and also make new ones.
- Tea Parties (as in the Boston kind). It’s good to see that people are becoming more aware, and more passionate, about the direction our country is going. I may not agree with each protest, but it seems good that people care.
- Books. I have a bunch of new books to read and review. Yipeeee!
- Snow. Even though I don’t like being cold, and am so very ready for spring, snow is a good thing because we need the water so very much in our desert oasis.
- Feeling well. I savor each and every moment of feeling well when it happens. Health is precious.
What about you? What are you thankful for this week, day, hour? Please play along on your own blog, or in the comments!
Is it any wonder that we don’t have to go far from home to have fun? There is always something to do, some fun idea to try out… and this week it was playing with light. To be specific, one cell phone and an LED flashlight. Here are the results, click on the images to see them larger:

One of many attempts to outline myself. This was the most interesting result, and was done with the LED flashlight. Then we decided it would be far more fun to draw things than to outline them. Here is one of my nickname, which I thought turned out well considering I had to write it backwards and in the air:

The next two were drawn by my husband, and I think they turned out very cool.

And lastly, a stick figure that I drew with some inspiration from my hubby (he told me to touch the ground with the light, which makes it look like the stick figure is actually standing). This was the best version, and I love that it really does look as though it is standing up.

I have some ideas for other things to try the next time we have a chance to do it. It’s really a fun way to play with the camera.
