Big losers!

Apparently, our room was just not that messy. We didn’t win the Way Basics shopping spree. I’m bummed that we lost, I had been doing a bit of “what would we buy if we won” shopping on their site. I found that they had a desk that would fit perfectly in a spot that I have wanted to put a work surface. And of course, extra storage space is always nice.

Baby the Maltese recently got a very cute, and very soft, sweater to review on our other blog. Sadly, as you can see by the photo, it didn’t fit her even a little bit! It will soon make it’s way to Maggie, fur child of Julie. But this photo of Baby trying to wear it makes me laugh so I just had to post it!

In other news, we recently started the South Beach Diet. Remember that fad? So this week has been all about cooking and shopping for food. Now, before you get worried, I am not following it to the letter as I know that I don’t need to lose weight. However, I am also kind of lazy and don’t want to cook two seperate meals for both my hubby and me, so of course I am following it a little bit.

I am still trying to convince my hubby to give some of the vegetarian meal options a go. Some of them sound pretty tasty, like vegetarian chili, and Thai vegetables. Others we both are a little unsure of, like tofu scramble. I’m not sure either of us are fans of tofu (we’ll have to try it and find out).

So, even though we are kind of losers lately, at least in one way it’s positive!

Hoop Boot Camp Day 1

To make this easier, I am just going to start following the HBC along with the fabulous DD HoopLove. I decided instead of following the calendar, I would just go with the flow and take the inspiration snacks as they are served up by our hostess with the mostess!

Question of the day: What does hooping mean to you?
For me, hooping is a way to let go and just have fun. Putting on upbeat music, getting in the hoop, and challenging my body to move (and to try tricks), releases my mind of anything else. It’s also a great way to open up to new things in other areas of life. Being more flexible and stretching the body seems to translate into other areas. But above all, it’s FUN!

Action of the day: Today is JUST DO IT day, so take a look at the goals you set and just do them! See how it feels for you, make some notes mental or otherwise about your activities today and be prepared to readjust your goals at anytime.

Positive Affirmation: I love and accept myself just the way I am.

Inspiration: The future depends on what we do in the present. – Mahatma Gandhi

Gratitude journal for the day:
  • Being able to find almost any fresh fruit or veggie at the store, at any time of the year.
  • Trying new recipes and having them work out well.
  • Outdoor hooping in amazing, warm but not too warm, summer evening weather.
  • Fun new music for my hoop mix.
  • Being able to help boost someones mood.
  • Keeping connected with friends online (what an amazing thing this has become).
  • Knowing that tomorrow brings another fresh start.
  • Super soft bamboo bed linens to enjoy through the night.

Hoop dance video

Really love the colors in this video! A little hoop dance inspiration for the day before hoop boot camp starts. :)

Goals

Some have already started the boot camp, but it’s still July here in my neck of the woods! So, here are the things that I am hoping to accomplish during the boot camp.

  • Hoop daily. Hopefully outside so I can practice off body tricks. I would really love to get a new off body trick perfected.
  • Walk 2 miles at least 5 days a week.
  • Clear clutter in my physical spaces to create room for new, better things.
  • Read a good book.
  • Make better food choices, include more fresh fruit and veggies in my diet. Also more whole grains, and less processed foods.
  • Support my lover in his dreams and goals.
  • Utilize the power of being grateful, including using this blog as a daily gratitude journal.

As you can see, not all of it has to do with hooping, but I fully believe that we can’t put our lives into little compartments and feel whole. Everything relates and is connected to each other.

Hoop Boot Camp

One more day until Hoop Boot Camp starts (at least for me, those in Japan are already starting). I decided to start this blog specifically for keeping track of boot camp. Hopefully it will be a good way to do the challenges and stay accountable.

Stay tuned!

If you are a hula hooper, come on over to Hoop Lovers Hang Out and join the boot camp. Or just join in the fun of connecting to other hoopers!
