Want: The Dreamy Diana Lens

Oh my goodness I want one of these! Do you know what it is? It’s a lens attachment for a camera so you can take photos that look like photos taken with a Diana, or other plastic lens camera! I am so excited. I have been itching to play with my Holga, but honestly the film is expensive both to purchase and develop. This lens can attach to a DSLR, which means no film to buy or develop! Nothing but fun, fun, fun!

The lens comes from the Photojojo website (a place that has many things I want to buy in addition to this lens). The features of the lens are quiet awesome as well.

  • Adds a soft and dreamy focus to your photos
  • Adapter for Canon or Nikon SLRs and DSLRs
  • Included adapter works with the entire line of Lomo’s Diana+ lenses
  • Three distance settings (1-2m, 2-4m and Infinity)
  • Includes Canon or Nikon adapter and 38mm Super-Wide Diana+ Lens

The price is nice too. At only $60 (with super low $2.50 shipping), it could easily find it’s way to my Christmas stocking (hint, hint, Santa). Of course I just know that as soon as I get one I am going to have to track down other Diana lenses to play with as well, since the adapter works with all of them.

In related photo news, I hope to give the 365 project a go again, starting tomorrow. Wish me luck. :)

Ways to keep life simple.

Life can get pretty complicated at times. I have no doubt that a lot of it comes from our own silliness. Here are the things that I think make life simpler. Simple is good.

  1. Be yourself. It’s a waste of time and energy to try to be anyone else. Plus, it robs the world of the unique person you are.
  2. Tell the truth. While not always the easiest thing to do, it does simplify everything. Be honest with yourself and others, and things become much simpler.
  3. Take care of your body. Eat well, move your body. Many nasty things can be prevented through simple nutrition and exercise. Being sick is not only not much fun, it can get pretty complicated too.
  4. Live within your means. Imagine if everyone lived within their means! We might not be in the big mess we are in right now as a country. Oh debt, how we hate you. Life without it is so much simpler.
  5. Relax. There are so few things that anyone really has to do. Pick the things that mean the most to you, and lose the rest. Make time to enjoy the ride.

Surfing Sunday, 11/29/09

By Aimee, November 29, 2009 12:30 am

It’s been awhile since we have enjoyed “Surfing Sunday”! Time to remedy that with a post Thanksgiving edition. Things to enjoy while overcoming your turkey and pumpkin pie overdose.

And just for fun, though you probably have already seen it by now, The Muppets recreate a classic:

Of Christmas and decorating.

By Aimee, November 28, 2009 12:52 am

I enjoy decorating for holidays. Some years I do a lot more than other years. Last year I put up our Charlie Brown tree, and that was about it. Some years we just use our little white tree, and other times we go all out with our big tree, outside lights, and Christmas villages. Miss Flamingo always dons her Santa suit though!

Not sure what this year will bring yet, but I recently got an email about a site called Safety At Home where you can learn how to have a safe and bright holiday season. They offer a series of informative tips and articles on keeping safe. Be sure to check out theĀ  Safe and Bright Holiday Contest, which lasts through midnight on December 22. The prize? A $10,000 prize pack. Sounds perfect, especially after all the holiday spending!!

This year there were a few things that I really wanted to buy new for decorating. I’m not going to do it though, and just find new and fun ways to use the things we already own. Stay tuned for photos as we start to deck our halls. Do you decorate for Christmas? Do you like to go all out, or keep it simple?

Grateful.

It doesn’t hurt that we get to enjoy Thanksgiving spread out over several days either! Here’s hoping that your celebrations are full of fun, yumminess, and gratitude.
