What dreams do you have for your home this year? We have a few that we hope to accomplish over the coming year. First up, a change to our kitchen that will make a huge difference for us (more to come on that soon). Other goals include:
- Painting the living room.
- Organizing the basement, making a workout area.
- Building raised garden beds for veggies and fruit.
- Finishing our small patio area.
- Organizing the garage.
- Repairing or replacing the roof.
Hopefully it’s a list that we can do on a smaller budget. I think that we can since we will be doing the work ourselves. Most of the things that we need are either in the house already, or fairly inexpensive to come by (paint). The roof will be the largest expense I would think. In truth we really needed to do it before all this snow came, but luckily the area that is missing the most tiles is over the garage, not living areas. It’s not leaking either which is also great news.
What plans do you have for your nest in 2010?

I remember the excitement of 1999, a whole new century was about to begin! It’s hard to believe that it’s now 2010, a decade later. Amazing how fast time flies. The first 10 years of the new century sure have been a lot of fun, here are some highlights in no particular order:
- Got hitched to my hunk of love. Best choice ever!
- Carried the Olympic Torch for the 2002 winter games torch relay.
- Watched an Olympic woman’s hockey game.
- Added furry and feathered friends to the family; a bird, a rat, and a dog.
- Bought a house!
- Celebrated birthdays and anniversaries.
- Welcomed a niece and a nephew into the family.
- Enjoyed visits from family who live out of state.
- Having loads of fun in my own yard, planting and making it prettier.
- Purchased a vehicle (as a grown up married couple, lol).
- Started blogging, and as a result have met lots of wonderful friends.
- Hiking, biking, trying to skateboard.
- Started hoopdancing… oh what fun!
- Welcomed lots of babies of friends.
- Took an African dance class. I wish I could always take one, it was amazing.
- Started to really try to cook, and learned that I’m not just great at desserts (though I prefer making them).
- Lots of fun, DIY projects on the house with my hubby.
Of course, there were a few low lights too, but I’m not going to list them. Who needs to dwell on that stuff? Plus, we got through them all together!
Now onto the resolutions! I really love this saying, and so I whipped up a little graphic for it:

Also, my “Note from the Universe” recently fit how I had been feeling about the coming year and my resolutions. So, I just have to share it.
I’ve got a feeling, Aimee, that 2010 is going to be your kind of year. That you’ll be happier than you’ve ever been, laughing harder, smiling wider, standing taller, walking lighter, dancing crazier, hugging longer, living grander, loving louder, and if you want, selling the pictures to a tabloid to raise money for your new charity.
Can you feel it, too?

I have a few goals to set as well. For this year I want to:
- Get in better shape.
- Eat healthier meals.
- Take more photos.
- Make more videos.
- Work on our home.
- Relearn forgotten talents.
Do you set resolutions or goals this time of year? What do you most look forward to doing in the new decade?
