Our crazy weekend.

The weekend got off to an early, and somewhat scary start. My mom called me around noon on Friday asking me to come over because my dad was being taken to the hospital. Obviously, it’s times like this when I am glad that we live only about a block away. When I get to their house they already have him ready to go. For whatever reason his blood pressure dropped very low, and he passed out. With the recent diabetes diagnosis, and his previous strokes, it was major cause for concern. Not that it’s normal for anyone to pass out of course, but we really had no idea why his blood pressure would go so low.

My awesome hubby took the rest of the afternoon off, which was great because while I was waiting at their home (and taking care of Baby), I was getting kind of hungry. He brought over some lunch, and it wasn’t much longer after he arrived that my mom called to let us know they were sending him home. I started cooking them some lunch, since they too were starving by now. Then I went to the grocery store for them (and us). It was a bit of an odd day, but thank goodness it turned out well.

Snow!

On Saturday we helped them out by installing some safety bars in their bathrooms. My dad has been a bit off balance since his stokes, and though he is getting better, having a little back up is a good thing. Apparently, they think that the drop in blood pressure was actually from over excursion, because he had just added weights to his daily walk in the hopes to get stronger. Catch 22, huh?

Somewhere between all the craziness we still found time to play the New Super Mario Bros, which is harder than it seems! With two people playing at once, there are a lot of mishaps and many “you squished me” and “stop bouncing on my head”! The sun was out too, which although it is still very cold, makes it more bearable.

We are also got news on a major fun project for our house! New kitchen counter tops!! I can’t wait to have a nice, smooth, easy to clean surface. It’s all coming together, and we should know the actual date very soon. Demolition is always fun too! We also get to look for a new back splash, and it will be a very good time to clear some cabinet clutter too.

How was your weekend?
