First roses of 2010

The first roses of 2010 (photo taken June 6). Notice that there is still snow on the mountains in the background? Yep, June in the Rockies is quite the mix of weather.

I love this image for so many reasons!

Table setting for the summer

For a long time, I used to set our dining room table in seasonal decor. I loved doing it, and it helped our table from becoming a “catch all” too, since we don’t actually eat on it. Then we moved to our current home, and the table often gets used for projects and such that used to take place in other spaces in our old place. This image of a summer table setting makes me want to set my table seasonally again. Don’t you just love the colors, and how fun the table looks?

What about you? Do you set your table for the seasons?

Vacation, and a dream garden.

By , June 27, 2010

You may have noticed a lack of posting lately (or maybe not, perhaps you too are out enjoying summer). Between actually taking a vacation ourselves, and having family from out of state come to visit, it’s been a busy month. We just arrived home from Vegas, and oh my! Talk about garden dreams.

If you have been to Vegas and seen the gardens at the Bellagio, then you know what I am talking about. We were there in time to see the “summer” display, full of favorite flowers. The main part of the display was a giant flower pot, tipped over, with flowers spilling out. Next to it, a huge spade. In front, fountains played, it was so magical. There were even frogs, snails, and ladybugs made of flowers.

I would be in heaven if I could build a magical garden like theirs. Seriously, it was so beautiful and it makes me wish that I could see it every time they change it (they do different displays through the year). The one thing that I have tried to grow, with out any flowers, is hydrangea. My plant does well, but never flowers. The botanical gardens at Bellagio were FULL of hydrangea flowers (among others).

What grows in your dream garden?

Take a look at this brightly colored space!

Living room 2

I love to see rooms where people have done exactly what makes them happy. This room may not suit everyone’s tastes, but it certainly is inspirational! Making your home personal, and completely your own, is what it’s all about in my book. More images of this home can be found on a blog called itKuPiLLi (which is not written in English, but the photos are great). What do you think of this space?
