Back in the first part of June, we had family from out of town come to visit. It was so much fun, even if the weather felt more like winter than summer! On one of the days we went to The Homestead. The men golfed, while the women swam indoors, played shuffle board (or rather, tried), and explored the crater a bit. I hadn’t been there since I was about 3 or so, which was way too long! The one thing I remember most about The Homestead is the garden, and it didn’t seem to me to have changed much at all. Click images to see full size.
The crater is one of the most unique things about the resort. You can scuba dive in it, or you can just go for a float. We didn’t do either, but we did go inside and look up at the sky through the crater. The other crazy thing is, the water is coming from a hot spring, so it’s always 90-94 degrees! There are a lot of hot springs in the area, but it’s pretty awesome nonetheless.
I can’t believe it was the first time we had gone, especially because we are “founders club members” there. That means free golf and swimming for life. You would think we would go all the time! Of course, I don’t really golf, but my husband does.
After the day at The Homestead we stopped off at a local greasy spoon for dinner. I had fish and chips which were very good, and we shared a root beer float. Of course the best part was spending time together as family and friends.

One of my favorite things is the mix tape. I fondly remember the hours and hours that my friends and I spent making tapes for each other (and of course, for the boys that we liked). I still have all the mix tapes that were ever given to me as gifts.
