Pink October 2010 Plans

By , August 9, 2010

It’s August, and that means it’s time to start thinking about my annual Pink October event. This year I have a new idea, and though I am not sure how it will work out, I hope that it will make it even better than ever before.

Breast cancer is something our family knows all too well. With both of my grandmother’s having had it, one of whom lost her life to it, it’s a cause that I have always been supportive of. Plus, with so many women effected each year, I feel it’s super important. It was out of a desire to do more that Pink October was born, and I am happy to say, it’s been successful!

Normally I did giveaways (0n the blog) from wonderful sponsors all through the month of October and encouraged people to donate to breast cancer charities. We also donated our ad revenues from the month. This time instead of giveaways through the entire month, I want to have one fabulous prize package (maybe two if we get enough donations).

In addition to having just one big giveaway, I am going to make a donation based on the number of entries we get. That is the part I haven’t figured out quiet yet, but I want to be sure that we have something to give back to a breast cancer charity. We need some fabulous prizes. If you know of a great company, or you want to take part and donate a prize, please send them my way!

*Aren’t these pink ribbon cookies the cutest? I keep checking the site that sells them but they are sold out.*

  1. I’m a huge supporter of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and have been for about 8 years. I think it is great that you are able to support in such a great way!

That’s something I have always wanted to do! They don’t do the Avon Walk nearby, but we have one with Komen. Awesome that you do that walk! There will be some Avon breast cancer items in the package (I’m a rep). :)

  2. my city is really big on fundraising and hosting a lot of events to support and raise money for breast cancer, which is really fabulous! sadly, im positive we all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, so its always a joy to hear more companies getting on board to bring relief to such a tragic disease.

I am looking forward to the pink event in my city in the coming month, too.

I’m sorry that both of your grandmothers have had breast cancer, and that you lost one to it. -hugs-

I think it’s great that you’re doing everything you can to help raise money. Those cookies make me think of all the blogger bake sales that occasionally pop up. Maybe you can host something like that, and donate the proceeds? =)
