Over and Alt.

On the last night of the Alt. Summit, there were a few parties being held in suites at the Grand America.

HGTV Party

You could seriously smell the chocolate coming out of the HGTV party! Two chocolate fountains, with all kinds of tasty items to dip into them, plus a really neat vibe. It was very yummy, and it was fun too because Mina and I enjoyed the whole party to ourselves while everyone else was waiting in line for the Kate Spade party in hopes of getting a gift bag. Chocolate and strawberries were my favorite! I don’t know where they found such yummy strawberries this time of year, but I could have just kept eating them all night long.

Of course, we also checked out the Kate Spade and Girls With Glasses party. It was super cute and fun! They had balloons everywhere, and the balloons kept sticking to me. There was an awesome photo booth, glasses, and bubbles, and so many retro pedal cars and planes!

Adorable plane

Oh yes, and they had cupcakes! We didn’t partake, but look at how cute they all looked:

Cupcakes!

We also had the most amazing mac and cheese too. It was baked style, but there were also all kinds of tasty toppings to put on it. Things like sauteed mushrooms, bacon crumbles, more cheese, and much more. It was a really fun night, good conversation, an awesome band in the lounge, and good food. A perfect way to end my summit experience.

Would I go again if given the chance? Of course! I have to send a huge thank you to Wilsonart! Because they sponsored the summit, and I introduced them as a sponsor, I was able to attend for free. Not only do we truly love the counter tops they gave us for our kitchen remodel, but I really enjoyed meeting a few of the great people from Wilsonart at the summit as well (they have a blog too). Check out the fun cocktails they had at their suite party:

Alt Design Summit 2011

I will echo what everyone else has been saying, it’s a shame we didn’t have more time to talk!! With 400 people attending it was hard to meet everyone, but I am so happy to have met the ones that I did.

The Honda Lounge

Did you know that I drive a Honda? Indeed I do, and Honda has always been a favorite of mine, so of course I was super excited when I heard that they were going to be at Alt. too! Their lounge was very cool, with some fun old Honda images and samples of their new clothing line! The Honda Heritage clothing collection will be on sale in February, but I was wishing to have one of their cute shirts to wear around the summit the rest of the day! The shirts were so soft and I really loved the retro images.

Honda lounge.

This lounge also had great hot chocolate, as well as coffee and tea. There were snacks to be had, and stations to recharge and use laptops. It was a fun place to sit and chat too, with a fun vibe.

They gave us a super fun tote bag that has Honda’s first logo and store address on it. That’s not all though, people attending Alt from out of state got all kinds of special treatment from Honda! They shuttled people from the airport, arranged rides up to Park City for the Sundance Film Festival, and gave rides to Solitude Ski Resort too.

I had hoped that they would bring the special dog themed Honda Element to the festival because I think it’s just about the coolest idea ever and I really want to see one in person!! I don’t know what kinds of Hondas were transporting people in style since I was driving my own, but the lounge sure was fun to hang out in!

At least five pounds!

Have you ever gone someplace fabulous and gained a lot of weight? I must have gained at least five pounds at Alt. Summit.

The summit kicked off Wednesday night with “Dinner With”. I was invited to The Wild Grape with a small group of bloggers to have dinner with Provo Craft. I had never been there before and was very impressed by the atmosphere and the food. It was packed the entire time we were there too, even on a week night!

Then on Thusday the food festival continued, first in the HGTV lounge, and then at the keynote lunch! The food was so tasty, and there was just so much of it. The keynote lunches were fancy affairs, with more silverware than has ever been present on my table. There were even letterpress menus from Smock paper (they also gave us an adorable box with notebooks in our goody bag). Having been a fan of Smock’s boxes for some time, I was very happy to finally have one.

Lunch setting

I have to admit, the keynote lunches were the best of all the sessions. It was fun listening to Seth Aaron and Mondo of Project Runway fame. Of course, Friday’s keynote was even more amazing to me, and featured DJ Spooky. Simply wonderful. He does so many different things, and spoke about music, graphic design, and much more. I also met a fun new friend, Mina, during this keynote, which made it even more fun. Now, onto some of the food!

Fancy salad.

Can you believe this salad?! I was pretty impressed at the presentation. Not a big salad lover, but I can appreciate the beauty of it.

Tasty Lunch

Thursday lunch, huge sandwiches! I couldn’t finish mine, especially knowing that this dessert was on it’s way out!

Decadent dessert

Yes friends, then add in all the extra nibbling at the Friday night parties (hello chocolate fountain and best mac and cheese ever), and I think 5 pounds may even be underestimating! Thank goodness I have my African dance class on Tuesday, that should at least burn one pound of it. :)

HGTV Lounge at Alt.

Glitter Lady Liberty

HGTV had the best lounge during Alt hands down. The room was themed for their show Selling New York, complete with a glitter encrusted Lady Liberty! When you first went in, you were given a great HGTV bag (perfect for shopping), a fun pin, and a warm welcome. They had the best food spread. In the morning, tons of yummy bread to go along with coffee, tea, and even Stephens Hot Chocolate!

So Yummy!

I enjoyed my hot chocolate a lot, especially while sitting out in the Grand America courtyard. The tables in the lounge were really fun as well, with gold textured table clothes.

Perfect for a break.

There were places to recharge your batteries (both metaphorical batteries and real ones), free WiFi, and lots of good conversation. After the lunch keynote, the breads were replaced by some seriously decadent treats! Brownies, goldies, and cookies galore! I’ve always loved HGTV anyway, but now that I know what great parties they throw, I love them even more.
