This time of year always gets me in the mood to spruce up my home. Does it do the same for you? I’m really excited because I get to do a review for CSN Stores, and they are letting me pick what I am reviewing from their many options. They have everything, from modern rugs, to cookware, to items for pets, and more.
You’ll have to wait and find out what I pick (post will come in the future), but I am leaning towards things for the kitchen! Or, maybe even some new bedding! Of course, what we really need is a new bed frame, since ours is being held up partly by a stack of books. They sell all of these things… off to do some shopping!
Oh how I love this little book! If you enjoy things from days gone by, especially if you often find yourself thinking that certain things should come back in fashion, then you too will adore Let’s Bring Back: An Encyclopedia of Forgotten-Yet-Delightful, Chic, Useful, Curious, and Otherwise Commendable Things from Times Gone By
. I mean, this book contains a recipe for original Girl Scout cookies after all!! What could be better than to bring back that?!
Some of the fun things that author Lesley M. M. Blume wants to bring back wouldn’t be easy (like wearing white gloves to lunch with the ladies), but they sure would be a lot of fun. It’s funny, I miss the days of people getting all dolled up to go out on the town, or even just to go to the city to shop (and I never lived in a time like that, but doesn’t it seem kind of fun and fabulous?). The whole time I was reading in the book I found myself nodding in agreement that we should indeed bring these things back!
And it’s not just the the list of things to bring back are great, but the book has illustrations! The book even has a ribbon you can use as a bookmark, and embossed cover, and tons of recipes too. Sadly it looks like everyone else loves this book too, as it is on back order from Borders, and Amazon doesn’t have it, but if you can find a copy grab it! You will enjoy it!!

Baby was naughty and got after her incision. The vet said that she could come back and get another soft cast put on, but luckily we had this inflatable collar on hand (purchased at PetCo). It works like a charm, and she doesn’t get after her incision because she can’t reach it now. She does however give some pretty cute, pathetic looks. Luckily it’s much better than a cone since she can see well and do her normal things easily.

Hopping around on three legs is hard work. But she has a built in pillow to sleep on now!
Baby had her one week check up yesterday. The vet was very happy with her progress. He said that even though she wasn’t putting any weight on the leg yet, that she had full range of motion in it, and that the patella was in place as it should be. They took off her soft cast, but she may have to get that back on again since she is licking at the incision. The upside is all the stitches are on the inside, so they will just dissolve away.
The vet also told us that it’s not uncommon for smaller dogs to go a very long time before they put weight on the leg again. He said even up to 6 months at times!! We are holding out for 8 weeks, as that is the time we have to keep her from running on it. Right now she is a tripod dog, hopping around on just three legs.
It’s amazing how much better she is feeling even now though, just a week later. I can see why everyone else said the hardest part is keeping them from running once they start to feel better!!
