Lately.
Tuesday afternoon we learned that my sister-in-law was admitted to the hospital. We were thrilled to hear it, because we had been worried about her for over a month and a half. The diagnosis? A tennis ball sized tumor on her brain. Questions raced through our minds, was it cancerous? Could they operate and remove it?
Gratefully it was benign, and operable. Obviously we have been at the hospital almost non-stop since we heard the news. Her surgery was Thursday night, and the family was all waiting to hear the news together. The surgeon finally emerged 6.5 hours later, at nearly 1:00 AM. He explained how hard it was, and how it was really impossible for him to truly convey just how difficult this surgery was. He told us there would be a good chance that she wouldn’t be able to talk, or move her right side, and that those things would likely recover with time.
Well, ShaRae kicked that tumors butt! She was talking and moving her right side right after the surgery. The surgeon was so happy when he saw that. She continues to improve, and though she has pain, it’s wonderful to know that after she heals she is going to feel so much better than she had been all this time before.
We are all very exhausted, but very happy.
