Taking their time.

By , May 23, 2011

This year the winter was longer, colder, and wetter, than it had been in some time. This week has been nothing but rain, other than one sunny day on Saturday. As such, the flowers are taking their sweet time making an appearance. The bleeding hearts are barely out, the iris are just starting to make blooms, peonys are almost ready, and lilacs are just getting started. As for our roses, it looks like we may have lost one of our bushes, but I am holding out hopes that they are going to recover.

Even the tulips slept in this year.

  1. ah – I love pink! these photos are gorgeous!

much of what I just photographed in my yard just bloomed in the last week – we were welcomed home from vacation by a lot of it! :)

What a nice thing to come home to after a fun vacation! :) We are really behind here garden wise, and there are so many things I wanted to do too. It just needs to stop raining first. LOL.

  2. Bleeding hearts! I have those in my backyard. I had no idea what they were. Don’t they remind you of that Erin Esurance cartoon?!

Oh, and by the way, the DIY Cocktails book will be heading your way soon and there is a surprise in there too. :)

YES! They do look like cute little flip hair-dos, and that cartoon. LOL! That is awesome that you have them in your backyard. They are one of my favorites.
