July 2011 Wrap-Up

By , July 31, 2011

It’s been some time since I have done a post wrapping up the month. I’m still focused on my theme for the year (create). So this month’s highlights included the following memories made.

Cute cupcake topper

Celebrating my good friend Kevin’s wedding. It was truly lovely to see two people joined in love. I’m looking forward to getting to know his wife better, as she seems like a very cool girl. She’d have to be though to marry my friend! The wedding had a theme of love birds, and the cupcake toppers were just so cute. So many personal touches.

Hogwarts Express!

Building the train set! While the Hogwarts Express is actually a larger train and won’t run on the set we are currently building, it is by far my favorite train (and we have plans for it to have it’s own layout in the future). The layout we have been working on is still very much a work in progress, but there is progress!

Lady bug pupa

Studying bugs and watching birds in the backyard. Lots of lounging in the hammock.

Other fun things included going to Taste of the Valley and trying lots of new foods, trying a new restaurant on a whim yesterday (Blue Lemon, which is so very good by the way), watching and lighting fireworks, celebrating Independence, celebrating the birthday of our nephew, and getting caught in the rain many, many times.

You are what you tweet!

By , July 29, 2011

So, have you ever wondered what your Twitter character looks like? I hadn’t, until of course I saw this fun thing on TeraSue.com. How it works is simple, just add your Twitter handle and pick a few options like if you are male or female, your eye color and hair color, and then it does the rest!

I took a screen shot of the character part, though the actual graphic has a lot more information (making it a bit long).  Surprisingly though, I don’t tweet much about fashion, though they did get the dress right (I have one very similar in my closet). The obsession is right on the money since my Twitter account is tied in with my animal blog. Besides, dogs are awesome.

Homer Skateboard!

By , July 27, 2011

This makes me happy, even though I rarely watch The Simpsons, there is just something so fun about this skateboard from Santa Cruz. By the way, they have lots of other fun Simpson related boards too. I would hate to grind on poor Homer’s face, but it sure would be a hoot to have a skateboard like this!
