Harry Potter!!

It’s hard to believe that the last installment in the Harry Potter movies is in theaters. I’m sad to see it end, even though it’s not truly ending (as I am sure we will continue to enjoy the movies and especially the books for years to come). We are starting our Harry Potter marathon soon in preparation for watching the final movie, but until then, this has been in my mind!

Just try to get it out of your head! :)

Train Day!

We have had a work in progress for some time now at my parent’s house. You see, my dad has always loved train sets, and he used to have a simple one in our old house. My mom has been building an amazing set for my dad to run his trains on. Today we spent some time painting in preparation for more decorating. Here is what the train set looked like before adding anything to it:

Also, I shared this before, but my uncle sent my mom an old Lionel train set that was from his childhood. The set hadn’t been run for 50 years or more, but we just happened to have an O scale track and a Lionel power pack on hand. Of course we had to try it out and see if it worked! Guess what? It worked!

They sure made things built to last, didn’t they? I will continue to post photos as the train set progresses! Oh, and in honor of the upcoming Harry Potter movie, I just have to show you the train to Hogwarts!

Sweet Chic

Be still my sweet tooth! Sweet Chic: Stylish Treats to Dress Up for Any Occasion has got to be one of the prettiest cookbooks I have seen in some time! Not only is it packed full of color photos (a must for a cookbook in my opinion), but the recipes will have your mouthwatering too!

I love how the author, Rachel Schifter, has the book laid out. First of all, when it says “dress up” an occasion, that refers to what kind of treat you will be looking at. From cookies (jeans, the white t-shirt, the cashmere sweater) to confections (the stiletto heel) each of the sweets has a reference to part of a classic wardrobe.

And you dear friends are lucky enough to get a preview of the delicious recipes inside this book!
