Summer, where have you gone?

By , August 9, 2011

It is hard for me to believe that it’s August. It’s getting darker earlier, and cooling off at night. Back to school is just around the corner. Can it really be that summer is winding down? We have been so busy, and yet we haven’t even gone on a vacation. Not even just an overnighter someplace fun. Of course if our backyard looked like this we would never need to vacation:

Our summer has been full of visiting family, helping with moves, gardening, and trying to squeeze in some fun now and then. What has your summer been full of?

Fun with cameras.

One thing that my husband and I like to do is to play with cameras. This past weekend was no exception to that rule as my husband wanted to enter a contest for EVGA. The prize? A 3D monitor and glasses. How sweet would that be?! The rule was that you had to have their logo in the photo, and your photo could be 2D or 3D. Obviously we went for the 3D because we love it.

Personally I think his image should take the prize, not only because he is my husband, but because it has so much 3D effect in it. Plus, I love the idea of the hand holding the box, it really brought the logo front and center.

Break out your 3D glasses (red and blues) and have a gander. If you have a Flickr account it would be awesome if you left him a comment letting him know you thought the image was awesome. Comments don’t affect the contest, but I’m sure he would get a kick out of seeing them!

Do you know how to make 3D images? Would you like me to post a tutorial here on how to do it?

Library inspriation

By , August 5, 2011

Today I went through my books to donate to the local library. It is one thing that I have a hard time letting go of because I love to revisit books even after I have read them. Sadly we just don’t have a ton of bookshelf space in our home, and because of that I often have to send books away. At least I know that I can always check them out again if I ever really wanted to read them. Do you hold onto books too?

In our dream home of the future we will have a library space. It’s something we have both wanted, and today I found a great example of how I would love to have a library look. I love that there is a daybed of sorts built in, perfect for lounging with a book, right?

Professor Umbridge’s Educational Decrees

By , August 2, 2011

Fellow Harry Potter fans, if you are looking for an awesome dry erase board to use in your home, look no further! Behold, the Educational Decree!

It’s quiet fun, and even comes with special spots on top that hold an eraser and two small dry erase pens. It’s 14″ tall, and has a hanging thing on the back (what are those called anyway?). So much fun to come up with “decrees” too. There were many before I settled on this one for the photo. After all, if you can’t use your powers for good, what’s the point?

Thank you again Think Geek for bringing some serious Harry Potter awesomeness into our home!
