Halloween is just around the corner, and I am having a Halloween Hop to celebrate! What is a Halloween Hop? It is my name for a Halloween themed blog hop, featuring ideas for Halloween decorating, crafting and cooking. Everyone is welcome to take part and you can link up to 3 of your Halloween idea posts. The purpose of a blog hop is to find inspiration, visit fun new blogs, and of course, get ready for Halloween!
The Halloween Hop will take place on Saturday October 1, 2011! Get your ideas ready! You may link to new posts, or favorites from your archives. As long as it is something fun to do with Halloween (like a great recipe idea, or fun craft for the home, or your awesome Halloween decor)! Come back on October 1 for the linky and to add your posts to the blog hop.
I hope that you will want to join the fun!
Halloween is coming, and yes, I am already thinking about it. It doesn’t help that I have been seeing some amazing ideas on Pintrest, here is just a small portion of my “This is Halloween” pin board there.

One reason why I am already thinking about Halloween (besides just loving it) is because I am working on our costumes. Last year I started early, but my costume was a FAIL and I had to try to throw something together at the last second. It worked out just fine, my husband and I were Mario and Luigi. However, we were supposed to be Mario and Princess Peach. This year I will find a way to make a Princess Peach costume!
I realize that not everyone loves Halloween. Personally I think all of the holidays are fun to decorate and prepare for. What is your favorite holiday?
A little peek at what it looks like inside the house this Halloween:

And a little bit of the outside:

Now for the really amazing part! This is the pumpkin that grew in our yard this year. It is massive, heavy (probably 50-60 pounds), and it was just perfect for what my husband wanted to do. He wanted to sculpt the pumpkin instead of carving it! Now, here is where it gets truly amazing, he did it all from his imagination and he did it all using just a common kitchen spoon and knife. Did I mention that my husband is extremely talented? Well, he is.

Have a spooky and fun Halloween!
In case you haven’t figured it out already, I LOVE Halloween. Each year I get excited to make something fun and yummy to celebrate. The eyeball cake is a very easy, but also spooky, creation for Halloween. But this isn’t just any eyeball cake, this one comes complete with red veins inside.

It could not be easier, especially if you use a cake mix. I am sure it would work just fine with from scratch cake recipes too though if you have the time. Basically, just prepare the cake as directed using two round pans. When the cake is out of the oven and cool, do a red Jell-o “poke cake” to both layers and then put the cakes in the refrigerator to cool. Once they are nice and chilled and the Jell-o is set, you can frost and decorate it to look like an eye.
Really, the best part comes when you serve it and you get to see the “veins” inside!
