Merry Christmas week!

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just days away. This year seems to have flown by so quickly. Do you feel the same way?

We have been trying to get in the holiday spirit, one of the fun things we did was visit our zoo for Zoo Lights! It was really fun. They have so many great animated lights and some of the animals were awake. Walking through the lights in the cold and snow made it feel so much like Christmas. If you have a chance to go before they end (Dec 31st) you really should go! So fun.

Zoo Lights 2013Anyone recognize that lion in the photo? Don’t worry, the real thing is still there too. Oh, and it was animated with water squirting out too. So cute and made me feel so nostalgic.

It’s been snowing here all weekend, it will be a white Christmas for sure. One thing I love most about Christmas is how pretty everything looks when it’s all covered in snow. Especially the lights.

Halloween 2013

It was a little less decorated this year, but the most important things were put out.

I remember trick-or-treating as a child. We used to go in the snow. It was always a shame too, covering up our costumes with big puffy coats. Oh how that has changed. One year my friend even slipped on the ice and broke her collar bone. It didn’t stop her from continuing on though, at least for a little while.

Now, what to do with all that extra candy?!

More years, but not grown up yet.

Hogle Zoo

Last month I celebrated my birthday, and I did it at the zoo! It has been years since I had been to the zoo, and my husband and I hadn’t been together even though it’s not that far from home. It was fun to see the changes, there were a lot of new places to eat (we ate at the Beastro), and the Rocky Shores exhibit was really fun even though the polar bear wasn’t out (it was too hot). There was also a special Lego animal display happening too.

Some of the exhibits that I remember most were closed, and they were doing a lot of construction in the middle of the zoo as well. It looks like it will be really awesome when it’s done though.

After the zoo we checked out Trader Joe’s. It’s kind of a big deal here because we never thought we would have one in Utah due to our strict liquor laws. We bought some things to try, and after that we got rootbeer freezes at Hire’s Big H. Once we got home we ordered some pizza and stayed in for a movie. It’s a good thing too because true to tradition, it rained on my birthday!

Easter Bunny Butt!

This year for Easter we made a Bunny Butt cake, and to go along with it, we also made strawberry “carrots”!

Easter Bunny Butt

Pretty cute, right? We loved it so much we didn’t want to eat it. The white chocolate (dyed orange) was really yummy on the strawberries too. A new favorite.

Did you have a nice Easter?
