It’s like a little fireworks show, with out the fire! I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday weekend. Be safe, have fun, and of course, remember why we are celebrating.

My current pair is over 12 years old now, and although they still work just fine, they no longer fit. Why oh why do feet (and ears) have to keep growing? I used to go blading all the time, but they are small now and make my toes fall asleep after just a few minuets. It’s so sad. So the top of my want list is a new pair that fits! I saw an ad that had shocks in them, but I think they were just for men, and I can’t find that ad now that I want to. But I think that this pair would fill all my needs.

• Monday was my mom and dad’s 37th wedding anniversary! When I was younger and didn’t totally understand everything, I told people that my folks got hitched 5 days after I was born. Of course later I grew up a bit and realized that there were 3 years of being married before I was born.
• On an unrelated note I also told people that all we drank at home was wine. My folks called sparkling cider/grape juice wine, and again, being little I didn’t know there was a difference.
• Tuesday my dad had a fall and hit his head. He had been having some difficulty walking recently too, and due to a medication he is on we needed to take him to the hospital. Well, it turns out that he has Type 2 Diabetes! That was what was causing weakness in his legs and what caused the fall. Gratefully his head was fine and there wasn’t any damage.
• Today we got to bring my dad home from the hospital. They have a lot that they will have to figure out with the new diet and medication routine. Now not only does he have to watch his sodium intake due to the strokes and high blood pressure, but now he gets to watch carb/sugar as well. Oh yes, and the 9 shots a day are going to be a hoot too! Luckily he has a good attitude about it.

Obviously we are all very tired and there is still a lot to do. Everything sure does get thrown off when someone is in the hospital. For example, I am playing major catch up on laundry and tomorrow I am sure that either I will be doing some major grocery shopping while my mom stays with my dad, or vice versa. It’s times like this though when I am very glad that we live so close to one another.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how life is both too short, and too long, to be unhappy. So, hopefully we can all find happiness in the simple things… spending time outside in the cool summer night air, sipping lemonade, enjoying the thunder, snuggling with your loved ones (both two legged and four legged), soaking in the sun, or watching a totally silly movie. What simple pleasures do you most enjoy?

We got yummy food from Iggy’s Sports Grill, enjoyed some fun time with my folks, and did some dream shopping (meaning we dreamt about what we would buy at the furniture shop). Also watched a fun movie (Notting Hill), and spent some time in the yard enjoying the summer weather! Finally summer is here.
