Halloween 2009 is over. The weather could not have been nicer! Considering how cold and wet it was yesterday, we even had little flakes of snow, Halloween was a pleasant surprise! It was warm, and the sun was up! I spent the first part of the day picking up walnuts, I filled my entire bucket and still have many more to pick up, and tons more to get from our tree. I also got the front of our home ready for Halloween night!
The candy was ready to go, my Halloween carols were playing, and my poodle skirt was on! We even installed our new doorbell and set it to “spooky sounds”! I’m not sure anyone actually heard the screaming doorbell, but it was pretty funny. We didn’t have a lot of trick or treaters, but those we did have sure did love Frank! We saw many camera flashes and photos being taken next to Mr. Popular.

I also made something for the porch really fast. I had the strand of pumpkin lights but they were short for the walkway, so I just put them in our pot of mums for pumpkin mums! They looked really cute in the day time, and even better at night. I wish I had thought of it earlier so they could have been up all month!

Once we knew no one else would be coming by for candy, we had a yummy dinner from Iggy’s. Of course, Halloween wouldn’t be complete without watching a fun movie. How was your Halloween?

It’s hard to believe that Halloween is tomorrow. I have to admit, holidays like Halloween, just aren’t as much fun when you are trying to eat well. There were many fun, naughty, things that I wanted to bake but didn’t. I know it’s better for us in the long run not to eat things like eyeball cakes, and pumpkin cookies, but it’s sure not as fun.

And I miss making Halloween cupcakes, and graveyard cakes, and haunted gingerbread houses.

Even without the treats (which could be tricks really), I have loved being able to decorate and have fun in preparation for the holiday. I’m still not sure what I will wear to hand out treats tomorrow night, but you can bet that we will watch one of our Halloween movie favorites (maybe even two)! And because we can’t be healthy all the time, there will be hot chocolate!

It snowed yesterday. It is supposed to snow again today. Not the best forecast for a candy hunt, but it’s a perfect time for Baby the Maltese to put on her skeleton shirt! Luckily it also glows in the dark, perfect for night time Halloween fun!

I remember finding these over the summer, and thinking to myself, be sure to remember these for Halloween! Skeleton Flamingos!
Yes, the pink flamingo has gone spooky. Sadly, I didn’t remember them, and now there is not enough time to get a flock for Halloween this year.

What reminded me was this post on the Craftzine blog, which shows one of these flamingos being used to make a spooky, Doom Flamingo! Since I don’t have skeleton flamingos, maybe I will just do what I did before, and make ghost costumes for our pink flamingos. Although, I don’t think a lot of people got it… they just thought I was covering them for the winter.

At least our indoor flamingo has a Halloween costume (photo to come).
