Summertime!

Summer is officially here. To me summer has arrived when we have Summerfest, a celebration our city holds during June each year. There’s a carnival, a parade, and even fireworks. In the “good old days” the parade was a glow in the dark parade, with floats and people adorned with all kinds of lighting devices. When I was in high school, we got to march in it (my friends and I were in the color guard) and we wore glow in the dark necklaces, wrapped all around our arms and of course on our necks too.

I’m not sure why they stopped doing it as a glow in the dark parade, but it still draws a crowd! People start saving their spots early. We are lucky because we live near the parade route, so we just took our skateboard and scooter down to the street to take a peek. I have to say, the classic cars were my favorite part.
